Harmony Remote Product ComparisonWhat is the Harmony Remote? How many times have you tried to do something with your home entertainment system that should be simple, but that turns out to be complicated and time consuming each time you try, such as playing a DVD with the sound through your stereo speakers? And even if you find it simple to turn on all the right devices and set all the inputs correctly to play a DVD, watch a video, or record a show, who else in your home can do that? How many times have you heard "I tried to play a DVD and I couldn't get any sound" on the phone? The Harmony Remote is here to the rescue! The Harmony Remote has been designed to be easy to use by anyone in the home, and it is easy to set up by the person in the house who usually controls the entertainment system. There are no macros to program... just answer simple Web Wizard questions, and the Harmony software automatically programs Activities into the Harmony Remote's memory. What type of Devices does the Harmony Remote Support? The number of devices in our database grows every day and is now in the tens of thousands. To see a full list of devices, click here. Or you can click here to Test Drive the Harmony Remote setup process and see which of your devices are in our database.
What are Activities? The Harmony Remote changes the way you interact with your entertainment devices in your home. All other universal remote controls offer device-by-device control, whereas the Harmony Remote provides activity-based control. All you need to do is select an activity on the LCD screen such as "Watch Television" or "Play a Video" and the Harmony Remote sends all the commands to your entertainment devices to set them up perfectly for that activity. The Harmony Remote does not have separate buttons to choose between controlling your TV or your VCR. When you choose an activity such as "Watch a Video", the Harmony Remote automatically controls your TV, stereo receiver and your VCR at the same time! The Harmony Remote is the only universal remote on the market that achieves this level of automatic and simple control. How does it work?
How do you set up the Harmony Remote? It is easy to set up your Harmony Remote on our web site. This step is best done by the person who is most familiar with the entertainment devices. This is how it works: Step 1 - Specify your devices: Create a Member Account on www.HarmonyRemote.com and specify the devices you own that you would like to control as a system with Activities. Pick your devices from lists organized by make and model number. For example, choose your television, VCR and stereo receiver makes and model numbers. If your make or model number is not in our database, don't worry... the Harmony Remote has an infrared sensor so it can learn the infrared codes from your current remote. Step 2 - Set up your Activities: Answer simple Web Wizard questions to tell the Harmony Remote how you have your entertainment system set up. For example, when you are setting up the "Watch a Video" Activity, the Web Wizard may ask you "When you watch a video, do you listen to the sound through your television speakers or your stereo receiver speakers?" Step 3 - Update your Harmony Remote's memory: The Activity configuration information is transferred from your Member Account into your Harmony Remote's memory via the USB port on your computer. Take the Harmony Remote to your entertainment system and give it a try. With the scroll wheel, choose an Activity such as "Watch a Video". If you need to make changes, simply logon to your Member Account, make the changes, and Update your Harmony Remote again. Your settings and preferences are always safely stored in your Member Account. |
